World Handicap System (WHS)

The WHS calculates the new handicap according to a certain formula. The calculation is based on the average of the 8 best daily results out of the last 20 daily results.

A number of data are used to calculate the average daily result:

  • Adjusted gross score (no more streaking!)
  • Course rating (automatic calculation)
  • Slope rating (automatic calculation)

Only the last 20 qualifying scores count towards the calculation of your new handicap. These are the scores of the last 4 years, so an average of 5 cards per year. All scores from qualifying card number 21 onwards will automatically expire.

A qualifying round consists of at least 9 holes.

When determining your new handicap, another number of automatic mechanisms are then applied, namely:

  • the Soft Cap
  • the Hard Cap
  • the Exceptional Score
  • the Playing Condition Calculation (PCC)
